Riverside Health Complex

Centrally located in the Prairie North Health Region, the Riverside Health Complex is a regionally accredited, integrated, state of the art health facility which incorporates a continuum of health care delivery. This includes acute care in- patient treatment beds, long-term care, physician services, lab and x-ray, community health and home care services.

After a collaborative effort by all our surrounding communities, (major fundraising and input from our facility by community groups and health care auxilaries) our facility was completed in November of 2002.

Included in the Services are:

Emergency 24/7, along with acute care beds totalling 7 and 2 overflow beds.  This includes 1 designated bed for palliative/end of life care. Our emergency room has 3 stretchers fully equipped to handle any emergency. Equipment includes - defibrillator and emergency obstetrical equipment including an incubator.

Access to emergency services include 911#, we have an excellent ambulance service based in St. Walburg - Marshall's Ambulance, which is approximately 20-30 minutes away, this is supported by a highly skilled group of community volunteers, who provide First Responder, Fire Fighting and Rescue Services. It is based in Turtleford but services a wide geographic area including our lake/resort communities.

Our staff compliment consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Continuing Care Aides, Certified Lab and X-ray Technicians, Medical Lab Technicians, Environmental Services Workers, Dietary staff, fully qualified Maintenance staff, Administration and Medical Records Technician, fulltime Physiotherapist and parttime Physiotherapist Assistant, Physician clinic with clinic staff, Public Health nurses, visiting professionals as listed: Podiatry Services, Health Liaison with Thunderchild First Nations, Recreation Therapist. Our Home Care office is based in our facility with staff that includes Home Health Aides, and Home Care RN's that are assessors and care providers.

All RN's are certified in Advance Cardiac Life Saving Skills (ACLS), all our care staff are current in their skill set and attend regular education sessions, and our LPN's practice in their full scope of requirements. We are proud to host several student placements in their nursing programs and hope to expand that to medical residency in the future,  a nurse practitioner has been incorporated in our clinical group.

Primary care is provided by a group physician practice, with 4-5 physicians servicing our communities, with centralized call 24/7, based in Turtleford.

Our long-term care unit consists of 22 beds. Two of which are for respite care. We also provide a day program for seniors. We have incorporated the Eden Alternative principles of care, which provides  resident directed care and home principles. Each resident has a private room and bathroom, floor heated, complete with Hilrom electric beds and furnishings, and state of the art whirlpool and hydro tubs, and ceiling and floor lifts. We have resident pets, birds, aquariums, plants and flower beds. Since 2002 we have had an active Student Volunteer Program, with high school students sharing their talents with our residents and patients.

The facility is actively involved with the community.  A large number of inter agency organizations meet and work through and with the Health facility, making it an integral part of the community.  Along with providing meals to the residents, our state of the art kitchen and trained staff  also prepare meals for the Meals on Wheels program which is active in the community.Residents can also access the Turtleford Handivan Service. A new handivan with an experienced driver provides a vital service to our communities Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
